The story our characters are critiquing is "Lanval" a lai written by Marie de France. Our characters themselves are a collective of authors and characters from the texts that we have read throughout this semester's course work. We selected a group of varied personalities in order to apply their medieval ideas to the story of Lanval and illustrate the different stances they might have taken when presented with the same issue as well as illustrate how they might have reacted to one another.
St. Augustine: 4th century
Jerome: 4th century
Troubadour: 12th century
Andreas Capellanus: 12th century
Wife of Bath- from Chaucer's 'Canterbury Tales': 14th century
